How To Make Pulled Pork Sliders

These pulled pork sliders come together in just a few simple steps. Toss the pulled pork with barbecue sauce, assemble the sliders, bake until warmed through, then finish them with creamy coleslaw and dill pickles for the perfect bite.

Step 1 – Prepare the Rolls

Slice the slider rolls horizontally in half, keeping the tops and bottoms intact.

If you’re using leftover pulled pork, warm it just enough to take the chill off before adding the barbecue sauce. Microwave it in short intervals or warm it in a skillet over medium-low heat.

I wolfed these down unapologetically. Have you ever gotten that perfect bite? All the textures, all the flavors … this does it. Tangy, soft, salty, seasoned, crunchy, unctuous, smoky in every bite!

Tips

  • Chop large pieces if needed. If your pulled pork has long strands, give it a rough chop before adding the barbecue sauce. It makes the sliders easier to assemble and keeps every bite together.
  • Don’t overfill the sliders. A generous layer of pulled pork is perfect, but overfilling makes the sliders harder to serve and eat.
  • Don’t overdo the barbecue sauce. Use enough to coat the pork without making it overly saucy, which can make the rolls soggy.
  • Keep the rolls together. Slicing the entire package of slider rolls in half makes assembling the sliders much faster and easier.
  • Add the coleslaw after baking. This keeps the slaw cool and crisp while the pork and rolls stay warm.
  • Serve right away. Pulled pork sliders are at their best when served warm, with the contrast of the hot pork, cool slaw, and crunchy pickles.

Variations

  • Switch the barbecue sauce. Try a sweet Kansas City-style barbecue sauce, a tangy Carolina vinegar sauce, or our homemade Bourbon Chipotle Barbecue Sauce.
  • Add cheese. Melt sharp cheddar, pepper jack, provolone, or smoked gouda over the pulled pork before adding the tops.
  • Turn up the heat. Add pickled jalapeños, sliced fresh jalapeños, or a drizzle of your favorite hot sauce. Personally, I love some fresh, sliced jalapeño on these!
  • Use sweet Hawaiian rolls. If you prefer a sweeter slider, King’s Hawaiian Original Sweet Rolls are a great substitute for the savory rolls.
  • Try different pickles. Bread and butter pickles, spicy pickles, or even pickled red onions all pair well with pulled pork.
  • Change the slaw. Swap the creamy coleslaw for a vinegar-based slaw for a lighter, tangier bite.
