Bang Bang Chicken
Bang Bang Chicken is a heartier and meatier version of the classic Bang Bang Shrimp. If you liked the shrimp version, you’re going to love the chicken version all the more.

Why You Will Love This Recipe
First off, the flavor is there. The mix of sweet and spicy, combined with the crispy, savory texture and taste of the fried chicken, hits every note. I was floored. I love our Bang Bang Shrimp, but I would go for the chicken more often at this point.
Why, you ask? First, chicken is less expensive. It’s more bang for your buck. With the shrimp, I could easily honk down a ton of it without blinking. And ordering it out … well, you’re going to walk away hungry and a little lighter in the pocket.
Additionally, you can opt for chicken thighs or chicken breasts, each offering benefits depending on your preference.
With the chicken, nothing is sacrificed. Crispy fried chicken coated in that sauce … forget about it. Won’t lie, I ate this entire recipe in 24 hours by myself (some of it cold, right out of the fridge).
And no crazy steps or hard-to-find ingredients. Everything can be found at your favorite grocery store. You need to try this recipe!

What To Serve With Bang Bang Chicken
You could make some killer lettuce wraps with this chicken. Serving it with rice or lo mein would be a great idea! We also have a spicy garlic noodle recipe that pairs well with this. Honestly, you can eat it as is.
Tips
- Marinate overnight for even more flavor.
- Fry in small batches so the oil temp doesn’t drop.
- Swap Miracle Whip for mayonnaise if you prefer a slightly reduced sweetness.
Variations
- Use chicken breast instead of thighs for a leaner meat option.
- Try air-frying for a lighter version.
- Adjust the spice by reducing or increasing the sriracha.
FAQs
Absolutely. Chicken breasts work great if you prefer leaner meat. Just be careful not to overcook them—thighs are more forgiving when it comes to staying juicy.
Yes! Dredge the chicken in cornstarch, spray lightly with oil, and air fry at 400°F for about 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway through. The texture won’t be identical to deep-fried, but it’s still crispy and delicious.
It has a little kick from the sriracha, but it’s more sweet-and-spicy than hot. You can adjust the heat by using more or less sriracha in the sauce.
