Bang Bang Shrimp Recipe

Crispy fried shrimp tossed in a creamy sweet and spicy Bang Bang sauce. This easy restaurant-style appetizer comes together in about 30 minutes and is perfect for parties, game day, or whenever you're craving a Bonefish Grill favorite at home.

Ingredients

Sauce

  • ½ Cup Miracle Whip or similar
  • 1/3 Cup Sweet Chili Sauce
  • ½ - 1 tsp Sriracha to your preference
  • 1 tsp Rice Wine Vinegar
  • ½ tsp Salt

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 lb. Shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 Cup Cornstarch more, if needed
  • ½ Cup Buttermilk
  • 4 Green Onions both white and green parts sliced on a bias
  • Canola oil for frying

Instructions

  • Whisk together the Miracle Whip, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, rice wine vinegar, and salt. Refrigerate until ready to use.
    ½ Cup Miracle Whip or similar, 1/3 Cup Sweet Chili Sauce, ½ - 1 tsp Sriracha, 1 tsp Rice Wine Vinegar, ½ tsp Salt
  • Pat the shrimp dry. Dip in buttermilk, then coat completely in cornstarch.
    1 lb. Shrimp, ½ Cup Buttermilk, 1 Cup Cornstarch
  • Heat about 2 inches of canola oil to 365°F.
    Canola oil for frying
  • Fry the shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes, turning once, until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Drain on paper towels or a wire rack.
  • Place the shrimp in a large bowl, add enough sauce to coat, and toss gently.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

For the crispiest shrimp, toss them with the Bang Bang sauce just before serving. Extra Bang Bang sauce can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and served as a dipping sauce for shrimp, chicken, fries, or vegetables.
