How to Steam Hot Dog Buns

Be sure not to steam them too long, or the buns will become mushy.

  • You can wrap a damp paper towel around the buns and microwave them for about 10 seconds.
  • You can boil some water in a pan and place the buns in a bamboo steamer and steam them for about 20-30 seconds.
  • Mist them with some water, wrap them tightly in aluminum foil, and place them on the grill turning once while you grill the hot dogs. Place them on the warm side of the grill, not directly over the hot coals.

Then simply place a hot dog in the bun then top it with your desired amount of mustard coleslaw. Easy, right?

Tips

  • We highly recommend grilling the hot dogs but use your preferred method.

  • Use your favorite hot dog chili if desired.
